Billy Thompson Sr., 54, died at 9:22 p.m. March 21, 2009, at Golden Living Center, Lima, Ohio. He was born May 19, 1954, in Florence, Alabama, to Reese and Canelza Burgde Thompson, who preceded him in death. Mr. Thompson was a musician in several bands, including the Ohio Players. He loved music, playing the guitar, singing and dancing. He loved angels and dressing up. Survivors include three sons, Jason Adams, of Lima, Ohio, Billie (Jennifer Thorburn) Thompson II, of Beaverdam, Ohio, and Reese (Erena) Thompson, of New Zealand; five daughters, Tara (Kewan Sr.) Thompson-Ramseur, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Tijuana (Terrence) Martin, of Savannah, Georgia, Venus Richard, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Deanna (Desmond Deeble) Adams, and Kaniya (George) Austin, both of Lima, Ohio; three sisters, Emma Jean (Jerry) Jackson, Melissa Dale and Pamela Jones, all of Florence, Alabama; three stepsisters, Gera Wooten, Patricia (Ben) Gibson and Sarah Jones, all of Florence, Alabama; three sisters-in-law, Annie (Charlie) Hankins and Christine (Grover) Hankins, both of Mussel Shores, Alabama, and Ellapearl Horaison; and 20 grandchildren. A Special Friend, Manuel. He was preceded in death by his longtime partner, Rebecca S. Adams; a daughter, Kiyana Thompson; two brothers, David Earl and Melvin Lee Thompson; and a grandson, Xavierr Thompson. Services will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
